The Canada Line has cost $billions and when complete you will be able to get from Richmond Center to Vancouver in about 40 mins. But trying to get from Richmond to Burnaby or across Richmond is often a challenge.
Skytrain is one of the most costly forms of public transit to build. About 20xLRT. Although operating costs may be lower.
No. 3 road is once again a nightmare after the short-lived refurbishment and cost to install special bus lanes. The Canada Line will relieve some of this mayhem but is far from being the solution to all our transportation woes.
For many people in Richmond they have no choice but to use public transit. With increased fares and construction disruption, commuting has been problematic for years now. I would like to see Richmond working with other municipalities to answer the question. How can we reduce everyones commute time?
My personal solution has been to find employment in the community where I live.
